Notebook, 1875-1900.

Notebook of George Kirchenberger, a pottery worker in Cincinnati, includes genealogical information about his and his wife's families; diary entries from 1875-1878 in which he records weather, local and national events, such as elections, floods, fires, crimes, and deaths; list of battles and skirmishes and reminiscences of his service from 1862-1865 with Company D of the 108th Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War. Also includes a detailed narrative of the activities of the 2nd Division of the 14th Army Corps in the march through Georgia and the Carolinas. The latter narrative is in a handwriting style different from that in the rest of the book. Twenty-two pages of text from the front and ten pages near the back have been cut out of the book.
